Assetto Corsa EVO cut the single-player career players preordered for

The promised solo career and economy are gone, and the people who preordered an offline Gran Turismo rival are now writing the angriest verdicts in the store.

In brief

EVO is the early-access sequel to one of PC racing's most-modded sims. It launched on a roadmap built around a single-player career and an in-game economy. Both got cut, and the players who bought specifically for that offline mode say they were sold a different game.

When it runs, the driving is some of the most convincing on PC. But the loudest reviewers say EVO now chases an online direction they never asked for, while still crashing and missing the specs its own store page advertises.

What is this game?

Assetto Corsa EVO is the early-access sequel to Assetto Corsa, the racing simulator that became a PC institution thanks to uncompromising physics and a modding scene that rebuilt half the car world inside it. KUNOS Simulazioni shipped EVO into Early Access in January 2025 with a bigger promise: not just track driving, but a road-and-career layer that would make it a Gran Turismo for the PC.

The career mode that vanished

This isn't a sales-chart story. KUNOS removed the single-player career mode and the in-game economy that a large share of buyers had preordered for, steering EVO toward an online-focused future instead. The people who paid for offline progression found the centerpiece quietly deleted. The build also still crashes for many players and fails to hit the performance its own minimum specs advertise.

"Reduced to atoms"

The community's reaction is unusually blunt. The recent reviews are led by a player only a few hours in, with a flat warning:

Do Not Buy. Can't recommend after devs pulled the biggest promised features and my reason for purchase, feels like a bait and switch.

Another buyer, in for the solo mode, put the loss more vividly:

They cancelled the career mode and in-game economy. The hopes for a Gran Turismo like game for PC is gone. Reduced to atoms.

Verdict: the driving model isn't the problem

If you only ever wanted EVO as a track-day physics sandbox, the core simulation is among the most convincing on PC and will likely keep improving. But if a solo career was your reason to click buy, that game does not currently exist. Wait until KUNOS commits to a concrete replacement before spending. ⚠️
