Two people built an open e-paper monitor that refreshes in 50ms instead of 100 (spectrum.ieee.org)
The Modos Flow is a 13.3-inch color e-paper monitor at 3,200 x 2,400, with a 60Hz refresh and roughly 50ms pixel response — down from the ~100ms that made older e-ink screens feel broken for interactive use.
The trick isn't the panel, it's the controller. Modos refuses to sign NDAs and open-sourced its Enchanter board, choosing Crowd Supply over venture money — the first standalone e-ink monitor a reader called responsive enough for general use.
