Sweden's Patent and Market Court ordered Google to pay 14.3 billion kronor ($1.5B) to PriceRunner, the price-comparison site Klarna bought in 2022, for demoting it in search while promoting Google Shopping.
PriceRunner had actually sought 78 billion. Google says it disagrees and is weighing an appeal, so the record award is not final; the thread splits over whether a fine this size deters Big Tech or is just overhead.
