Tesco is moving 40,000 server workloads off VMware while suing Broadcom in the UK High Court for over £100M, alleging Broadcom's licensing overhaul destroyed perpetual licenses it had already paid for.
The catch surfaced fast in the thread: the unnamed replacement is incompatible with Tesco's Veeam and Zerto backup tools, and offers 'reduced functionality'. As one engineer read it: VMware is still basically the only thing that works out of the box.
