The Economist's report has soldiers painting trucks in looping stripes and blotches to throw off the machine-vision models steering today's autonomous strike drones, a decades-old fix aimed at a machine that costs far more to build than a can of paint.
One high-karma engineer in the thread called it battlefield theater: modern strike drones barely have the resolution at altitude to make out a stripe, and the pattern may flag the truck to a detection model rather than hide it.
