Om Malik, who urged tech to write "like a human," has died at 59 (om.co)
He founded GigaOm in 2001, turning a one-person blog into a media company, then spent years as a True Ventures partner who cared about founders more than their decks. The thread that followed reads less like an obituary than a roll call of people he answered when they were nobody.
"He would have been amongst the first 10 readers," wrote one early blogger he mentored. A heart scare near 40 had already pushed Om to narrow his life to what gave him joy: writing, photography, travel.
