JetBrains launched Thinkrail, an agent IDE, and HN spent its thread on the README (github.com)

Thinkrail is built around the pi coding agent and keeps specs in SPEC.md files beside the code. It is Apache 2.0 licensed and ships for macOS, Windows and Linux.

Veteran JetBrains users in the thread were less interested in the README than in whether they still need an IDE.

Newer Claude models keep inventing tool fields that break Pi's editor (lucumr.pocoo.org)

Armin Ronacher, creator of Flask, found that Opus 4.8 and Sonnet 5 keep adding invented keys like requireUnique and oldText2 to Pi's edit tool. The oldText and newText payloads are byte-correct; the extra fields alone cause repeated failures.

His hypothesis: reinforcement learning inside Claude Code's forgiving harness rewarded malformed calls, so the model now fights any schema that isn't Anthropic's.

The thread debates whether that's a fixable bug or a walled garden.

A one-command 'migrate from OpenClaw' tool; the thread can't find the use case (hermes-agent.nousresearch.com)

Nous Research's Hermes Agent shipped a guide and a 'hermes claw migrate' command to absorb OpenClaw configs, MEMORY.md, skills and messaging tokens in one shot. The first reply instead pointed at a similarity analysis accusing Hermes of copying a rival's memory/skill/evolution design.

Then dozens of users who actually ran these self-hosted agents asked the same thing: what is any of this for? One had built his own clone in a few hours; another said his version calls his wife if he ignores a pull request.
